about
Cedar Forrest Krisch is an Appalachian maker currently living and working in Richmond, Virginia. Blending metalsmithing techniques with fiber manipulation, Krisch creates wearables and objects, both sculptural and functional. His work explores the inner psyche, his experience with bipolar disorder and a borderline personality, and how the unstable nature of his mental state leads to instability in his personal, social, and sexual life. As a gay trans man, Krisch often incorporates the male form into his pieces, combining the age-old phallic motif with new ideas on sexuality and gender.
Cedar Krisch graduated summa cum laude from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2026 with a B.F.A. in Craft and Material Studies. Krisch’s work was selected for the “So Fresh, So Clean” juried exhibition the past two years, as well as the VCUarts Undergraduate Juried Exhibition and the SNAG Undergraduate Juried Exhibition.
